As the pandemic rages on and the governments try to stave off the economy from hemorrhaging any further, it is crucial to truly consider investments that would strengthen reliability and resilience of the health sector in order for it to continue defending and advancing the health of citizens. Renewable energy can provide a solution to this challenge.  It can help alleviate the burden of high electricity bills and create new jobs to reboot the economy.  Renewable energy also reduces air pollution making people less vulnerable to diseases, and mitigates greenhouse gas emissions that may protect the sector from the impacts of climate change making it more resilient.

As a network that promotes public and environmental health, GGHH would like to present the second of the series of virtual round table discussions to dig deep into how renewable energy supports the health sector’s response, reliability, resilience and recovery from COVID-19.

Specifically, the session will aim to:

1. Share how green hospitals and their clean energy initiatives helped in their fight against COVID-19;
2. Determine how healthcare facilities can transition to clean energy amid the pandemic; and
3. Recommend ways to speed up the transition towards renewable energy led by the health sector.
